Baptism (Christening)

A Baptism (also called a Christening) is a very special time in any person's life, and at St Mary and St Peter we love celebrating these occasions with you. In Baptism, we give thanks for the new life that God gives each of us, we partake in recieving God's Grace into the lives of those coming for Baptism, and we welcome people into the family of our Church community.

If you are considering a baptism service for yourself, or if you are a parent wanting to have your child Christened, the clergy would be delighted to hear from you! Get in touch here.

Baptisms are normally celebrated on Sunday Mornings either as part of our main service at 09:30 or separately at 11:30/12:30

Anyone who lives in the parish (the geographical area our church serves) can be baptised at St Mary and St Peter, or request baptism for their children. If you are not sure which parish you live in, you can check by using your postcode here.

You can also find more information on the Church of England's Christening site.
