Welcome

Welcome to the website of St Mary and St Peter's Church. I hope as you scroll through this site, if there is something of particular interest to you, that you are able to find it, and if you are looking in general, that you are able to get a picture of the life and work of our parish. The best way to get an understanding of who we are and what we do here is to visit us. As this is not possible for everyone, we have included information about ourselves; if it is possible for you, come and get to know us at one of our services or activities. We warmly welcome all visitors to our church.

At St Mary and St Peter's, we aim to make all our visitors welcome and part of our Church family. We hope this website gives you an impression of our witness, and that in reading through this site you will feel encouraged to come and see us or to contact us. Please feel free to get in touch if we can be of any help or assistance to you at any time.

Wishing every blessing to you and your loved ones.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Sunderland: St Mary & St Peter is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm.

We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Durham’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO.

If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the Parish Safeguarding Officer Rev. Susan Sweeting or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor Beth Miller.

If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police on 999 and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
